Paris has long been a city that attracts creators, dreamers, and history enthusiasts from all over the world. Here, between the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Montmartre, lie stories significant to Lithuanian culture. Discoveries such as the Coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania (Vytis) above the oldest public clock in Paris, Lithuanian gardens, or the replica of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the Gates of Dawn at the Church of St. Severin in Paris are just a few examples that testify to the Lithuanian presence in the city.
Implementing the project “Following the Footsteps of Emigrant Creators: Culturally Significant Heritage of Lithuania in France”, the Heritage Commission invites to discover traces of the past that still exist in the streets of Paris. On December 12, at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, an event will be held to present émigré artists, creators, as well as objects and memorial sites in France related to Lithuania.
Heritage Commission is an expert and advisor to the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, President of the Republic of Lithuania and to Government of the Republic of Lithuania regarding the national policy of cultural heritage protection, its implementation, evaluation and improvement.
