At the event held on December 12, 2024, at the National Martynas Mažvydas Library of Lithuania, the National Commission for Cultural Heritage invited politicians, experts, and Lithuanian communities abroad for a discussion about the culturally significant Lithuanian heritage abroad. For several years now, there has been talk about the lack of a national strategy and a unified vision — how will we approach Lithuanian heritage scattered across the world?
This discussion is the concluding event of the project “Following the Footsteps of Emigrant Creators: Culturally Significant Heritage of Lithuania in France.” During the event, a new map was presented, allowing the discovery of traces of the Lithuanian nation’s history and culture in Paris. It was created in collaboration with the Lithuanian community in France.
The new map (click here to view it) of Lithuanian heritage traces in Paris is a symbol of the importance of incorporating Lithuania’s heritage abroad into political decisions and public discussions.
Heritage Commission is an expert and advisor to the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, President of the Republic of Lithuania and to Government of the Republic of Lithuania regarding the national policy of cultural heritage protection, its implementation, evaluation and improvement.
