  • The Heritage Commission – Partner at the International Conference in Kernavė

On October 8–9, 2026,  the heritage community is invited to gather at the Kernavė Archaeological Site, where the Administration of the Kernavė State Cultural Reserve, together with its partners, is organizing an international conference “Heritage management: between threats and opportunities.”

The conference invites researchers, cultural heritage specialists, and members of the heritage community to share insights and experiences related to the protection, management, and sustainable use of cultural heritage. The event will explore issues of legal regulation and management of cultural heritage, experiences in managing UNESCO World Heritage sites, practices of engaging local communities and stakeholders, as well as the complexity of heritage and cultural landscapes. The conference program invites the presentation of research and practical initiatives related to the development of sustainable tourism, opportunities for heritage awareness and adaptation for various audiences, innovative solutions for heritage presentation, and more. The conference aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and the sharing of best practices, contributing to the sustainable preservation, appreciation, and responsible use of cultural heritage for future generations.

We warmly invite those interested to present papers at the conference! Please submit your paper topics along with abstracts of up to 300 words in Lithuanian or English via email to agne.zilinskaite@kernave.lt by May 18.

Heritage Commission is an expert and advisor to the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, President of the Republic of Lithuania and to Government of the Republic of Lithuania regarding the national policy of cultural heritage protection, its implementation, evaluation and improvement.
