On 11 December, the Chair of the National Commission for Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Lithuania, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vaidutė Ščiglienė, was awarded the highest distinction of the Ministry of Culture – the Honorary Badge “Carry Your Light and Believe.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vaidutė Ščiglienė was awarded for initiating new initiatives in the field of cultural heritage policy and management that promote a positive, open, and community-oriented heritage protection culture and its understanding, as well as for initiating a fundamental shift in attitudes toward cultural heritage and consistently shaping cultural policy in this field, identifying systemic issues and bringing them to public attention.

This year, the National Commission for Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Lithuania marks the 30th anniversary of its activities, and the award presented to its Chair also recognizes the institution’s significant contribution to the development of Lithuania’s cultural heritage policy over the past three decades.

Heritage Commission is an expert and advisor to the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, President of the Republic of Lithuania and to Government of the Republic of Lithuania regarding the national policy of cultural heritage protection, its implementation, evaluation and improvement.
