Trakai, the historical capital of Lithuania and a symbol of statehood, is currently searching for its identity while facing challenges in preserving the genius loci created by its heritage.
On October 10-11, an international conference (“City and People: Towards Sustainable Revitalization of the Trakai Old Town Based on Cultural Heritage”) organized by the Trakai Historical National Park Directorate is taking place in Trakai. Representatives of the Heritage Commission are also participating in the first day of the conference. Examples of best practices in the revitalization of historic cities from Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and Poland are being presented from various perspectives.
